Cliff Richard & The Shadows Go Platinum!
It was in 1959 that Sir Cliff Richard first recorded and performed with The Shadows. In 2009, exactly 50 years later, Cliff and The Shadows have reunited live at Wembley Stadium for the final time on home video across Australia and New Zealand.
Melbourne – February 15th, 2010: Cliff Richard and The Shadows (Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Brian Bennett) dominated the British popular music scene in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s enjoying both solo and joint successes. Between them they achieved no less than 19 number one hits including Living Doll, Bachelor Boy, Summer Holiday and The Young Ones.
Over 50 years later, the domination continues with their latest DVD Cliff Richard & The Shadows Live in London 2009 reaching the coveted status of Platinum Sales.
During the Melbourne leg of their sold out tour, between quickly devouring their dinner and meeting a lucky select few from Olivia Newton-John’s charity for the Wellness Centre, Cliff, Hank, Bruce and Brian were presented with their awards for Platinum DVD sales in Australia. And there’s no sign of the sales slowing down yet as the DVD powers strongly toward double platinum sales with 4 more shows in Australia and 6 more in New Zealand remaining.
Further success came in the form of the Number 1 status on the New Zealand DVD charts, toppling Pink’s Funhouse Tour DVD. Cliff and The Shadows are set to kick-off their New Zealand leg of the tour from the 24th of February.
